Marcelo Gallardo appointed as new Ecuador head coach

The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) has officially appointed Marcelo Gallardo as the new head coach of the men’s national team.

The 50-year-old Argentine manager has signed a contract running through the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Gallardo replaces fellow countryman Sebastián Beccacece in the role.

The former River Plate boss, who won 14 trophies including two Copa Libertadores titles in Buenos Aires, takes over for his first international management role ahead of the 2028 Copa América and 2030 World Cup.
