Sharjah FC midfielder Adel Taarabt has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 37.
The former Morocco international began his senior career in France with RC Lens before moving to English football with Tottenham Hotspur.
Taarabt spent a prominent period of his career at Queens Park Rangers, making 164 total appearances, scoring 34 goals, and winning the EFL Championship title alongside the Championship Player of the Year award in 2011.
He subsequently had loan spells with Fulham and AC Milan, followed by a seven-year tenure with Benfica in Portugal, where he made 129 appearances and won the Primeira Liga and Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira.
He also represented Genoa CFC before concluding his career in the United Arab Emirates with Sharjah FC. At the international level, Taarabt earned 30 caps and scored four goals for the Morocco national team.
