Hamburger SV have officially announced a new contract agreement with head coach Merlin Polzin, while his assistant coaches Loïc Favé, Richard Krohn, and Max Bergmann have also been handed new long-term extensions.
While the club confirmed the deal as a long-term commitment, the exact length of the new agreement remains officially undisclosed.
The show of support from the board paid immediate dividends on the pitch, as Polzin guided his side to a 2-1 victory against 1. FC Köln at the Volksparkstadion.
The win snapped an opening three-match losing run, marking HSV’s first goals and first victory of the Bundesliga campaign.
Having previously led Die Rothosen back to the top flight and secured Bundesliga safety, Polzin’s new deal underlines the hierarchy’s long-term commitment to his ongoing project in Hamburg.
