Borussia Mönchengladbach have officially parted company with head coach Eugen Polanski following a winless start to the new Bundesliga campaign.
The decision comes after the club failed to secure a point from their opening three league fixtures, leaving the side at the bottom of the table.
The 40-year-old manager was relieved of his duties following a 5–0 defeat against SC Freiburg. Polanski, who initially took charge in September 2025 before signing a contract through 2028, leaves Borussia-Park having overseen 29 senior matches with an average of 1.10 points per match.
Borussia Mönchengladbach confirmed that assistant coach Jan-Moritz Lichte has stepped in as interim head coach while the board conducts its search for a permanent successor.
The 46-year-old German coach joined Polanski’s staff in July 2026 following previous coaching roles with Mainz 05, the Turkish national team, and Manchester City’s academy setup.
